Mmmm, It's always better when we're together [Oct. 25th, 2009|11:08 pm]
[Tags|]
[Current Mood | grateful]

There's no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
our dreams, and they are made out of real things
like a shoebox of photographs
with sepia-toned loving
Love is the answer
at least for most of the questions in my heart, like
Why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together

Mmmm, It's always better when we're together

Fear [Oct. 17th, 2009|04:23 pm]
[Tags|, ]
[Current Mood | optimistic]

When fear comes knocking and grips your heart, what do you do?

Do you think about it a lot and let it fester and manifest?
Do you talk about it so much, to your friends and family, that the actual fear is diluted?
Do you hide it in the closet and look at it in its face only when the need arises?

I'm sure anyone will have a theoretical answer to this question, but when things really happen and fear whacks you out of the blue, I do believe the natural reaction may differ from the theoretical one. Because we're only human.

Ee Irene is going through her operation as this post is being written. I do pray for the surgical team for steady hands and an alert mind, and for a positive mindset for ee Irene. It's so crucial for her to truly believe that she will recover fully, because recovery is not just about the physical act of performing a healing act on the body, it's also mental, your mindset. Being with her this whole week proved otherwise, but we will all have to continue to stay positive around her and offset the fear that she has allowed to fester and snowball.

I am thankful for the family support for her. It is so heartwarming. The love I'm feeling from it all, reminds me once more, how meaningful life is.

Ee choo's breakfast birthday [Oct. 7th, 2009|10:31 pm]

This entry is 2 weeks overdue!

So ee choo's birthday was celebrated over breakfast, before work. With our morning puffy faces, we sang the birthday song in enthusiasm and blow the candle and cut the cake.

Disappointments [Oct. 7th, 2009|10:17 pm]
[Tags|]
[Current Mood | contemplative]

I hate the feeling of being a disappointment to others. I've always felt so, my whole life. The helplessness that you feel, and how you cannot do anything to change the situation is so profound, it still never fails to baffle me, even after 29 years.

Fleas [Sep. 21st, 2009|11:58 am]
[Tags|, ]
[Current Mood | loved]

Sunday, 20 September 2009.
House @ Dempsey saw a Flea Market. The young people thronging the area, were like.......fleas? So many flying around.

My aunts, sis and Alma rented 2 stalls. When I visited them, with mm in tow, it was hot, and hand held fans were the hottest accessories of the moment. Next to their booth, a man called Mike, was selling new graphic tees for $12 a piece and slippers for $5 a pair. He manned the store himself, and complained about the $18 sandwich he bought for his 5pm lunch. His brother sells roasted pigs and he will also be at the Katong Flea next Sunday. I know all these because  family made friends with him towards the end of the day.

And their fascination with my headphones necklace got me a $3 gift from the flea market. A microphone necklace.
From the little aunt Rachel told me about how this purchase came about, the conversation between aunt Rachel and sis Christine must have somewhat flowed like this:

R: eh, let's get chei the headphones tee (from Mike). Like her headphone necklace. Very cute leh.
C: no no no, you give me $3, I go and get something even more suitable. (smug look)
R: ....... (R looks skeptical, but still hands over the $3)

C strolls off chuckling, flicking her long brown hair, into the great unwashed. Several minutes later, she emerges with her hands behind her back. Smug look returns.

R: what is it.....show me leh.....

C laughs cheekily and opened her palm. The shiny metal microphone necklace lies in the center of her pale palm. C chuckles again, knowing she has won this round. R laughs heartily and picks up the microphone necklace. Her other hand starts slapping C's arm whilst she laughs continuously, a habit of hers.

R: oh ya ya ya yaaaaaaa, this is VERY suitable!!!

Charming.

Magic Mushrooms [Sep. 14th, 2009|10:28 pm]
[Tags|]

Life throws you things when you least expect it.

Some of these things, cause you pain.
Some of these things, gives you magic mushrooms.

I'm getting magic mushrooms now. When I close my eyes, I see bright, vivid and happy colours. When I walk, my shadow's skipping and dancing.
Magic mushrooms surely must last forever!

Flight plan [Sep. 8th, 2009|09:05 pm]

[Current Mood | excited]

I've forgotten what it's like to plan for a holiday! All the holidays I've taken so far have been planned for, and I just go with my bags packed, enjoy, and provide spontaneous fun.

There's much to do. Planning for dates, itinerary, searching for flights, reading guide books, asking for recommendations...etc etc. but but but but, it's really quite fun. The anticipation of a long overdue holiday is at breaking point already. I cannot wait!

First things first, book my flight home!!!

[Current Mood | artistic]

Girlfriend moves out of home.
Finds a WALK-UP apartment along Grange Road.
This apartment has MOSIAC flooring.
The rooms are freaking SPACIOUS.
The living room has an interesting combination of MISMATCHED furniture.
And the center piece is a GREEN rug.
From the BALCONY, you have, Grange Road, line of mature trees, natural breeze.
Her room, has HIGH ceilings, as with the rest of the house.
It also has WHITE WASHED walls.
No cupboards, but a hanging RACK.
No bedframe, but a MATTRESS.

Her living space makes me drool!

Meeting my gals is always enjoyable. They provide the most honest advice and they do not judge.
Debs and I seem to be facing the same issues at the same time. She's progressed from our Spruce meeting. Mel, being married, had a really good laugh. heh.

This time, it was breakfast on lovely Saturday at District 10.
The food was alright. The company, priceless.
More please!!!!

[Current Mood | energetic]

So I ran my first 21km. Totally enjoying it and totally not minding doing it again.

On Monday 17 August 09, the day after AHM, Fangeetha quickly wrote a race report, which I had wanted to do as well cz it was so inspiration and encouraging, and mine followed. Then both of us egged Mr Shampoo to write his too, which he did!

Copy and pasting it all it's email glory........

BCT powered engine

My BCT Race Report

I’ve been looking forward to AHM. The weeks prior to AHM went by with an eagerness to do more runs so I won’t suffer so much. BECAUSE I know the other 2 BCTs are very strong and also because I wanted to enjoy my run more than suffer from it. AHM provided a goal, an aim, a target to look forward to amidst the routine of working life. I liked that a lot.

The family support has been good and amusing. My aunts & sis are constantly amazed my bothering to do morning runs. They are all not very athletic, so I get constant salutes from them when I head off in the mornings. After a while, they’ll question why I’m not running on my rest/lazy days. Then there are the long runs on Sunday mornings which started 1.5 months ago, and became more regular only 3 weeks before AHM. This was probably the ‘last-minute-hug-the-Buddha’s-feet’ theory in effect, fuelled by inspirations from Martin’s 84km and Melvin’s fast legs. Plus, the first ever BCT Run Home Day on 6 August, which has expanded into an aNR deal. All hail the power of the engine powered by BCT!

RACE DAY! And the heat is on. The struggle to wake up at 4am was great as the night ended late after Def Jam @ Butter Factory. Ptptptptpttttpp. I kiasuly took Berrocca, coffee and plenty of food to stimulate and fuel the body well. I quickly packed for the race and headed off at 4.30am.

Meeting BCT outside the esplanade was a happy occasion. We sang to the moon-arising and tagged our shoes & bibs. We ignorantly sashayed to the starting line 5 minutes after the silent flag off. I ran silently (cz I cannot talk when running) but did lots of hand action charades with BCT & Martin. Random bits from the run: Marcus and I counted down every marker we saw; dawn broke through and the heat started to set in; the mixed tape songs were really good, and I liked the element of surprise not knowing what song will pop up; we started overtaking people after the midway U-turn point; Hermann was spotted looking really tired for this 10km run; the raffles boulevard turn saw the merging of the 10kmers and the 21kmers and I felt so suffocated completing that leg; I could really feel my forefoot at the 18km marker, but it was just 3km more!; and my brain fast moved faster than my feet and I envisioned turning at Fullerton Hotel, but I was really only at the F1 pit; with Marcus going strong up the slope by my side and viva la vida-ing, I blinked twice when I was really at TheFullerton bridge. I was nearing; oh such joy sprinting the last metres; oh such joy when we spotted Martin and Janice coming in!

There you have it, my first 21km. A very memorable one….=)

Random Tuesday 2.49pm [Aug. 11th, 2009|02:45 pm]
[Tags|]
[Current Mood | cheerful]

It's the day after National Day holiday and it seems like everyone has partied / played hard.

I spent mine well.

1. Long run on Sunday, and I could so feel my knees
2. Watched The Hangover, a totally dude movie
3. Attended the NDP, first time at the floating platform
4. Visited A at Thomson, first born, and heard her complaints about her CB being very pain
5. Went to Ee Julie's place for good food, durians with rice and a good KTV session
6. Ran many random and important errands
7. Met lian and caught shopaholic

Fangeetha partied so hard, and stayed up so late, sleep is written all over her face. Her movements and speech patterns all spell 'i need my bed'. So this post is dedicated to her. Without her, there will be no Random Tuesday post. =)

Spruceddiction [Aug. 8th, 2009|08:35 am]

[Current Mood | cheerful]

My team celebrated my birthday for me, Spruce style.

It was a lunch of firsts -
First time to Spruce, and it was love at first sight for all three of us!
First time having white wine on a working afternoon.
First time learning how to 'roll' wine to the back of the tongue for better tasting wine.
First time seeing green pasta. I loved the colour.

Pictures, courtesy of BCTB.

Since then, all of us have had repeated Spruce meals. We're Spruceddicted!

Self-but-not-self assessment [Aug. 8th, 2009|08:25 am]

[Current Mood | depressed]

My PEP was just over. It's an internal process where we access ourselves and our bosses pick on our failed traits.

I've been thinking, are we all expected to be perfect in everything that we do? How can someone who excels exceedingly in History be expected to be an accounting whiz? Why do people expect nothing less of us? Isn't it easier to judge others then to judge yourself? Why am I not up to par?

Then I figured that if the perfectionist in me keeps thinking about all these questions, I will most likely end up depressed. That's why IMH is surviving so well.

Diffusion theory [Aug. 3rd, 2009|10:07 am]
[Tags|]
[Current Mood | amused]

This random scenerio just popped into my head this morning. It wasn't funny at that point in time, but it's amusing me now.

G and saf shares a room, Bintan, Indonesia. Early morning.
G's in the bathroom brushing her teeth. Saf walks in to wash up.
G starts to frantically wave the air.

G: Eh, i farted.
Saf: (nonchalently sniffs the air. Not very smelly, so didn't bother about it)

Upon reflection, how can you diffuse the fart molecules with hand-fanning in an enclosed area, like the toilet?

G's so funny.

The KOP [Jul. 26th, 2009|10:12 am]
[Tags|, ]
[Current Mood | excited]

Unexpected delightful fun during Liverpool's visit at the football Clinic held in VJC.

They had us up the wall at work, but the events all turned out well. No major glitch. Woo!
Even the weather was perfect, after a morning downpour that had me worrying at 6am!

REDs go marching.... )

The rest of the time was just spent clowning around. Photo-whoring, figuring out ways to best capture all the players' autographs, borrowing markers, Matt pretending to be a player, feeling spendid facing the pitch and worshipping our hardwork (as you can see).

We all could not erase our WIDE SMILES, and I cannot help but notice the sparkle in the boys' eyes throughout the whole session. Even long after at 1am in the morning, my MSN chat with Seet shows the adrenaline is still kept high and running!!

Thank you LIVERPOOL! I'll feel the LFC fever again tonight, at the National Stadium. KOP end, here I come........

Donny gettin Durty [Jul. 25th, 2009|08:26 am]
[Tags|, ]
[Current Mood | happy]

Sasha planned a surprise party for Donny. It was such a success!! It reminded me of my own surprise party this year!

From 2009's successful surprise parties, I took away a few important tips.
1. Victim must be the clueless and trusting type - Very important
2. Involved parties must pretend well
3. Involved parties must cover their tracks if any potential leaks is/are discovered
4. Involved parties must know how to have a good time!

 Aim for non-failure!
